"In an age of black and white opinions, this album provides a refuge for the simple questions that separate us. Boys Called Susan

Boys Called Susan started with a wonderful woman's dying wish and has turned into a musical team of two cousins that have turned years of grief, struggle, depression, and hard truths about our ever changing society into a collection of phone demos that caught the ear of one of Nashville's most respected players and producers.
Bryan Russo is an acclaimed singer/songwriter who has shared the stage with more than 30 national recording artists and is multi-award winning journalist (including 2 Edward R. Murrow awards) and composer based in Maryland.  He's released four independent albums.
Christopher Shearer is an Emmy-award winning composer, producer and musician based in Arizona who has worked in many facets of the music industry over the years, from audio engineer to multi-instrumentalist.

Debut album "Pennsyltucky"

What started as a bunch of phone demos bounced across the USA of in the middle of the night, quickly escalated into a scenario where we recorded this album in Nashville, Tennessee with the critically acclaimed songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer Phil Madeira (creator of Mercyland, member of the EmmyLou Harris' Red Dirt Boys, producer of The Civil Wars, The Lone Bellow, The Wood Brothers and countless more)

3/4 of the Red Dirt Boys (EmmyLou Harris' backing band) backed Boys Called Susan up in the studio on the entire album.
The album was recorded at the Butcher Shoppe Recording Studio in Nashville, TN
(The Butcher Shoppe is co-owned by country legend John Prine and famed producer David Ferguson and has hosted amazing artists like Sturgill Simpson, John Prine, Tyler Childers, Del McCoury and so many more)
Sean Sullivan (who won a Grammy for his work on Sturgill Simpson's "A Sailor's Guide to Earth" in 2016) engineered the album.
